Product Details
The ULP RO membrane for home use employs a modified polyamide chemistry with a looser cross‑link structure on the active layer. This reduces the hydraulic resistance to water molecules while maintaining high rejection for dissolved salts. The practical result: at 45 psi, a standard low‑pressure membrane might deliver only 30% of its rated flow, whereas this ULP membrane delivers 65‑70% of its rated flow. This makes it suitable for unassisted operation in homes without a booster pump or in small cabins with gravity‑fed tanks.
Another design difference is the feed spacer thickness – 34 mil for ULP models versus 28‑31 mil for conventional ones. The wider channel reduces pressure drop along the length of the element, so the last leaf sees nearly the same pressure as the first leaf. This uniform pressure distribution extends the membrane's useful life by preventing the rear section from drying out or scaling prematurely.

Common specifications for all models: Max pressure 300 psi, max temp 45°C, pH range 3‑10 (continuous), free chlorine <0.1 ppm, feed SDI ≤5. Dry membrane – no wet storage required.
Test conditions: 25°C, specified pressure, NaCl solution. Actual performance depends on feed water quality and temperature.

Why the ULP Design Is a Game Changer for Home Use
- Works down to 35 psi – While the test pressure is 65 psi, the ULP RO membrane for home use continues producing usable water at pressures as low as 35 psi, albeit at reduced flow. This eliminates the need for a booster pump in many marginal‑pressure homes.
- Quieter operation at low pressure – Lower feed pressure means less vibration in the pump (if one is present) and quieter drain water flow. Ideal for open‑plan kitchens or apartments where noise is a concern.
- Less frequent pump cycling – Because the membrane maintains flow at lower pressure, the storage tank fills more consistently, reducing the number of pump on/off cycles. This extends the life of the pump and the auto‑shutoff valve.
- Consistent performance across the entire 50‑400 GPD range – All models in the ULP family share the same low‑pressure tolerant chemistry. You do not need to re‑engineer your system if you upgrade from 50 to 400 GPD – just change the housing and pump accordingly.
- Field‑proven for well water with pressure tanks – Many well‑water systems use a pressure tank that supplies water at 40‑60 psi. Our ULP membrane extracts high rejection even near the bottom of that range, whereas standard membranes often fail to start.
As a low pressure RO membrane element supplier and domestic RO membrane 1812 manufacturer, we offer batch traceability and optional third‑party test reports for every ULP production lot.

Target Installations
- Homes with municipal water pressure below 50 psi (older neighborhoods, high‑rise apartments with unboosted supply)
- Cabins or RVs fed by a gravity tank or low‑output well pump
- Systems where the owner wants to avoid the cost and noise of a booster pump
- Whole‑house RO pre‑treatment (as a polishing step after softening)Quality Control & Production Assurance

FAQ – Real‑Life ULP Questions
1.I measured my tap pressure at 42 psi. Will this residential RO membrane element still produce 75 GPD?
No – at 42 psi, the flow will be roughly 40‑45 GPD for a 75 GPD model. Rejection will be around 92‑94% instead of 95%. If you absolutely need the full 75 GPD, you need a booster pump. But if you are replacing a standard membrane that stopped working below 50 psi, this ULP membrane will at least give you usable water where the old one gave almost nothing.
2. My system currently uses a 2012 housing. Can I install a 50 GPD 1812 membrane?
No – the diameter is different. A 1812 membrane (1.8″) will not seal inside a 2012 housing (2.0″). You must match the housing size: 1812 membranes for 1812 housings, 2012 for 2012, etc. The flow rating (50 vs 75) does not affect size.
3. Does the dry‑packed ULP membrane require any special storage precautions?
Keep it in the original sealed bag away from direct sunlight and high humidity (below 80% RH). Do not freeze. If the bag is intact, the membrane stays usable for 36 months. Once opened, install within one week to avoid contamination.
