The EDI for Boiler Feed Water system is used in industrial boiler water treatment lines requiring continuous high-resistivity water production and controlled conductivity performance. Installed downstream of reverse osmosis equipment, the EDI module removes residual ions from RO permeate through electrically driven ion migration and membrane separation technology.

 

This EDI for Boiler Feed Water is widely applied in power generation and industrial steam systems where chemical-free ultrapure water polishing is required. Under standard operating conditions, the system can produce water with resistivity up to 15–18.25 MΩ·cm while maintaining silicon and boron removal rates above 99%.

 

How EDI Works in Boiler Feed Water Systems

 

The EDI membrane module combines ion exchange resin, ion-selective membranes, and direct current electricity to continuously remove dissolved ions from pretreated water. In most installations, the EDI unit is positioned downstream of the RO system as the polishing stage of the water purification process.

A typical process flow includes:

Pretreatment → Reverse Osmosis System → EDI Module → Boiler Feed Water Tank

Within the EDI stack, ions migrate through selective membranes under an electric field, while the ion exchange resin supports conductivity reduction and continuous purification. This process allows the system to operate continuously without periodic acid or alkali regeneration typically required by mixed bed systems.
