Product Details

 

The CLAYSON Industrial EDI unit is a continuous electrodeionization (EDI) module built for high temperature operation in heavy-duty environments. It runs at 85±5°C under ≤0.2 MPa, handling daily hot water sanitization in power plants, semiconductor fabs, chemical processing, and steel manufacturing. Flow rates span 0.5 m³/h to 5.0 m³/h across six models, all with 605 mm height and 312 mm width. Length ranges 324 mm to 922 mm. No chemical regeneration. Recovery is 90‑95%. The concentrate stream (5‑10% of feed) goes to drain or returns to RO feed.

 

Each EDI unit is pressure tested at 0.6 MPa for ≥10 hours and validated with 85°C water for 30 minutes to confirm seal integrity under thermal cycles. The KXGW‑50 delivered 17.68 MΩ·cm at 3.5 μS/cm feed. Electricity is the only consumable. Working current is 1‑6 A DC; voltage is 0‑400 V (KXGW‑500: 0‑100 V). Ports are DN32 (fresh water) and DN20 (concentrate). The unit tolerates feed hardness up to 0.5 ppm and chlorine below 0.03 ppm.

Installation and Operation – Practical Notes

 

Power on only after water flows – Running the module without water will overheat and destroy the resin and membranes.

Plumbing – Fresh water in (top), fresh water out (bottom). Concentrate in (bottom), concentrate out (top). Do not reverse the fresh water lines.

Prefiltration – Install a 0.5 µm cartridge filter right before the EDI module to catch particles.

Grounding – The green ground wire must be connected by a qualified electrician. The water stream should also be grounded through a conductive fitting to avoid false resistivity readings.

Startup sequence – Open all valves, start feed pump, adjust flows, then turn on DC power.

Shutdown sequence – Turn off DC power first, then stop the pump.

FAQ

 

1. What happens if the feed water temperature drops below 5°C in winter?

Ion exchange resin and membrane efficiency decrease at low temperatures. Voltage required to maintain the same current will increase. If temperature stays below 5°C for extended periods, product resistivity may drop below 15 MΩ·cm. We recommend installing a feed water heater or heat exchanger to keep temperature above 10°C.

2. Can the Industrial EDI unit be installed outdoors?

The module housing is rated for indoor use only. Direct sunlight, freezing temperatures, and rain will damage the unit. If outdoor installation is unavoidable, house the module in a weatherproof enclosure with temperature control (5-35°C) and ventilation.

3. How do I handle a module that has been frozen?

Do not pressurize a frozen module. Thaw it slowly at room temperature for 24-48 hours. After thawing, perform a pressure test at 0.2 MPa (50% of normal) to check for cracks. If no leaks are found, gradually increase to normal operating pressure. Even if it passes, internal resin damage may shorten service life.

4. What is the typical pressure drop across a new module at rated flow?

For a clean module at 25°C, pressure drop (fresh water inlet to concentrate outlet) is approximately 20-30 psi (1.4-2.1 bar). Record this value at startup and compare monthly. A 30% increase indicates scaling or fouling.
